"Internet Sites for Government Contracting

These are Internet resources that will help you gain those government contracts.  Most are meant for federal government contracting, but some are for the state of Ohio, since that is my home state.  Have you also read about Women Business Certification and Getting Government Contracts?  This section compliments those areas of WomanOwned.

We also have a page dedicated to more government sites that may be of help in doing business plan research, or finding out about regulation information that may affect your business.  Government Agencies.

Commerce Business Daily - An on-line listing of government contracting opportunities. It is a searchable database in real-time. Very good tool for certified companies.

Women Business Owners Corporation - Check out this site for numerous links to government agencies and reports. I had some trouble with the gopher links, but they may be fixed. This site also offers a one-stop certification process for doing business with the government. Offers the NAWBO certification program.

International Business Resources - Explore links to publications regarding small business and International development. Categories include: small business assistance, contract & grant opportunities, subcontracting resources, laws & regulations, and federal acquisition forms.

Small Business Administration - On-line resources include: starting your business, financing, expanding, local resources, Score program, links for business, links to the White House & Congress, and more.

Women Business Owners at SBA - Greatly enhanced site with information about:  Business principles and practices, Management techniques, SBA Services, Market Research, Interactive mentoring, Individual counseling, Topic forums and newsgroups, Data resource guide, Financing opportunities, and Government contracting opportunities.

Women's Business Enterprise Certification - This is the second national certification program for your business.  Some advantages include:  access to purchasing agents of Fortune 500 Companies, and registration in a national database of certified women-owned firms used by major corporations.

WomenBiz.gov -  The premier Government- to- Business site for women-owned businesses selling to the government.  This site is the flagship of all government women-owned business outreach efforts.  It brings together in one site volumes of government information on Federal acquisition, and gives women-owned businesses direct access to the tools and government networks that will enable them to tap into the $190 billion Federal procurement market.

GOVCON - This site provides access to the government contracting data that can be used for research into opportunities for bids.  They have a new service that will send the new bid requests directly to your e-mail box ($).

SIMPLEX - The paid service helps you identify the request for bids in your business area.  For a fee, they will sort all the new requests and will give them to you daily on their web site.  This is recommended for those with strong demand for products. Cost is a flat $75 per month with a month to month set-up.

State of Ohio Purchasing Home Page - Want to work with the State of Ohio?  Visit this site for information about becoming a vendor.  I'd recommend national certification first!

The Federal Marketplace - A search engine for government contracting, this site is very similar to GOVCON.  They have links to state and federal agencies, contract search, listing of all contracts awarded in the last 7 years, and same day notification of bids that are placed by the government.  Some fees for services.

WAHMPRENEUR - The only source for hard news available online that is written specifically for home-based working parents.  Topics covered include campaign news, proposed legislation, new federal regulatory requirements, market research interpreted for small business, and government and private sector small business programs and opportunities.
